Internship Vacancies

We currently offer 4 rotating internships here at Rainbow Equine Hospital which run for a fixed term of 18-months. Our interns are an integral part of the veterinary team, and live onsite for the duration of the program. During the internship period, the weekly rotations undertaken vary from general anaesthesia, intensive care / medicine, hospital case management, and lameness (+diagnostics / imaging). These are under the guidance of diplomates in equine surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging.

We welcome new graduates or recently qualified veterinary surgeons whom have a degree that can be registered with the RCVS to apply for these positions. In previous years, our interns have been highly successful with completing the program, publishing case reports and full manuscripts, and obtaining high-quality veterinary positions (including numerous residencies). We encourage and support the VetGDP process for new graduate vets alongside this.

We strongly encourage potential applicants to visit the hospital and spend a day or a little longer (such as an externship) prior to applying for a position, to meet our hospital team, and explore the area, and to discuss the position with our current interns. We typically recruit for the upcoming positions 6-9 months in advance, and positions will be advertised in due course on our website and social media.

We are delighted to invite applications for internship positions, with one beginning in mid-September 2026 and one in early January 2027. Applications will be open from the 12th January – 30th January, with interviews and selection expected in February 2026. All applications should be made to Jonathon Dixon MRCVS, Clinical Director ([email protected]). Please include where possible a CV, cover letter as to why you feel this would be the position for you, and available references in any application.
