About Us
High quality first-opinion and referral equine services for North Yorkshire.
Based in Malton, our first-opinion and referral equine veterinary hospital has been providing quality, unparalleled veterinary care to the north of England since the 1980s.
We’re the largest and leading equine hospital in the region, with a greater range of modern equipment and more highly qualified team members than any other in the north.
The hospital was originally founded by the well respected and renown Bob Ordidge who was soon joined by Ieu Pritchard and then Alastair Nelson, who together transformed our humble Rainbow Farm site into the world class and renowned specialist equine referral hospital and equine laboratory that it is today.
Our ambulatory team of equine vets have experienced eyes and diagnostic equipment to help investigate and treat issues onsite, and cover Bridlington, Hull, Selby, Google, York and Easingwold to Whitby and across the Moors.
Horse Owners
There’s no equine-related problem that’s too small or too great for our friendly and professional team, who are on hand every day of the week to provide support from your premises or our five-acre equine hospital site.
Our services for horse owners include routine healthcare, lameness investigations, vettings, surgeries and diagnostic imaging, and our expert team members are happy to advise on all aspects of equine care.
Our hospital is pioneering in equine medicine and surgery, and through investing in the latest equipment and the best team members we remain at the forefront of equine veterinary care.

Referring Vets
In 2019 we began extensive expansion work to expand our intensive care unit, develop two brand new surgical suites and link our surgical facilities with our computed tomography (CT) suite. These facilities are manned by nationally and internationally recognised specialists in surgery, medicine, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia and reproduction, as well our team of in-house vets, qualified nurses and grooms.
We can assist referring vets with all manner of services, including diagnosis, surgeries, diagnostics, ophthalmology, colic and critical care, dentistry, therapeutics, headshaking, wobbler diagnosis and overground endoscopy.
Our stabling facilities include mare, foal and stallion boxes, intensive care facilities, miniature horse boxes spread across three separate barns, as well as a collection of 10 small paddocks, meaning we have capacity for up to 50 horses stabling and can give horses freedom to graze outside where appropriate.
